A note from Penny's siblings:
We are delighted Penny's teacher friends in Germany honored her memory with a Memorial Volksmarch on September 17th. And what better recipient of contributions than a Global Volunteers Children’s Program Fund! Our sister loved children, and spent her life working with them. She spent two weeks as a Global Volunteer in both Poland and Peru working with kids. Following those tours, she traveled on her own at Christmastime to distribute gifts to an orphanage in Romania where Global Volunteers has a program.

We know Penny would be so pleased by this effort from her friends. Her siblings send sincere thanks to all of you for your kindnesses on her behalf. We miss Penny so much and are gratified with this kind of remembrance.

"Penny had an enthusiasm for life, a quick smile and such a sense of fun! When our volunteer team went out for a night of salsa dancing at a club in Lima, Peru, all the "gringos" were invited onto the floor to show their moves. Penny's solo brought down the house! She commanded the dance floor with her fiery, athletic and electric moves. It was an unforgettable performance -- a dance of life, a celebration of passion. I'll never forget it."
