Romania Country Managers
Mihaela and Dan Cirjontu coordinate all aspects of our programs in Barlad. Mihaela, a teacher and mother, was raised in Barlad, and is uniquely suited to ensure that our teaching and childcare programs grow to meet the expanding community needs. Having joined our staff at the beginning of our partnership in early 1999 as a local consultant, Mihaela is intimately familiar both with Global Volunteers' methods, and the institutions where our volunteer teams serve. Further, she was named Global Volunteers' Staff Person of the Year in 2006 for her outstanding service to her volunteer teams and program hosts.
Dan, Mihaela's husband and co-manager, was also raised and educated in Barlad, and worked as a metrologist for 17 years at the Ballbearing factory in Barlad, one of the biggest in Eastern Europe. He is currently studying to become a social worker. Together, Dan and Mihaela alternate team leading responsibilities throughout the year.
All country managers have served on one or more volunteer teams, and each year are required to complete our intensive two-week training seminars in Minnesota. They're experienced in managing diverse groups of people, and are formally evaluated by each volunteer team. County Managers must achieve an established level of performance in order to continue leading Global Volunteers teams.
You'll receive program and contact information from Dan and Mihaela approximately four weeks before your service program begins."Both Michaela and Dan are exceptionally dedicated and devoted to these children in Barlad – fun and attentive to us volunteers!"
~ Janet Furby, Romania volunteer
"Dan and Miheala are dedicated professionals full of passion for their charges!"
~ Kerry Caufield, Romania volunteer
