Work With Teens and Adults

English Language Instruction:
See the host country through the eyes of the local people in secondary schools and universities while you teach young and adult students conversational English as they prepare for work in the global community.

Labor and Construction:
You can repair and paint houses, help build new community facilities, or assist on more specialized projects including floor tiling, plumbing and electrical repair.

Elder Care:
In a few host communities, you can work directly with community elders in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and clinic settings. Entertain and stimulate seniors who hold the community's history and culture for a very rewarding service experience.

General Maintenance and Landscaping:
In many communities, our hosts' facilities need general up-keep, and your help could include gardening, painting, sanding and puttying windows, and clearing out storage rooms, etc. working alongside local adult volunteers. If you are handy with basic tools, you can be a tremendous help.

Sharing Professional Skills:
Many specialized work projects focus on the needs and pursuits of adults of all ages. This can include professional discussions in the areas of business, law and medicine, or organizing library shelves, assisting with administrative or clerical projects, or providing computer training.

Health Care:
There are tremendous opportunities for you to work with local health care providers in small clinics and rural dispensaries. If you are a medical professional, you can perform patient examinations, provide prenatal care and provide numerous "hands-on" types of services. Nurses are needed to help vaccinate children and to assist with well-baby exams. Dentists and eye-care specialists can assist local practitioners. Back one page
