Poland Country Manager
Dorota Wierzbicka is Global Volunteers' country manager for Poland and now leads nearly all the teams to the Siedlce region, where she was born and grew up.
Prior to becoming the country manager and team leader, she had assisted in our Poland program as an on-site translator for the volunteers, and so she is already very familiar with the needs of our host community. Moreover, she is thoroughly familiar with the special challenges of teaching English to Poles. Dorota was named Global Volunteers Staff Person of the Year in 2004 and consistently receives the highest possible ratings on volunteer evaluations.
Further, she has a degree in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), a field she has been working in for some five years, and a master's degree in applied linguistics through the University of Warsaw. You can read Dorota's expanded profile here. All our USA staff and volunteer team leaders are trained and experienced in managing diverse groups of people. All have served on one or more volunteer teams, and have completed our intensive two-week team-leader training seminar in Minnesota. Further, all our team leaders are evaluated by the volunteers on each program, and must achieve an established level of performance in order to continue leading Global Volunteers teams.
You'll receive a description of, and contact information for your Poland country manager approximately four weeks before your service program begins.
